Cedar wood powder (CWP) was modified to tertiary amine type adsorbent and was studied for the recovery of Pd(II) from various media. Results show its stable performance in both HCl and HNO$$_{3}$$ with better results in the later. Quantitative recovery of Pd(II) from real e-waste liquor (highly acidic aqueous mixture of several metal ions generated during the aqua regia treatment of precious metals containing parts, like printed circuit board, of obsolete electrical and electronic devices) (HCl-HNO$$_{3}$$ mixture) with as high as 75 times preconcentration factor is noteworthy. In addition, selective recovery of Pd(II) from simulated HLW (High Level Radioactive Waste)(in 3M HNO$$_{3}$$) in normal as well as in $$gamma$$ irradiation condition also established the possibility of using biomass-based adsorbent for the green recovery of valuable palladium.
