被引用回数:0過去40年間にわたり、液体の水を対象としたモンテカルロ飛跡構造(MCTS)コードが世界中で数多く開発されてきたが、相互作用断面積は大きく異なる。本研究では、6種類の異なるMCTSコードの使用による、液相水中の低エネルギー電子輸送の物理的特性(電子阻止能、経路長、dose-point-kernel、微視的線量付与)の不確実性を評価することを目指した。コード間比較の結果により、特に100eV以下の低エネルギー領域において、MCTSコード間で大きな差異があることが明らかになり、電子線が重要な役割を果たすDNA損傷シミュレーションの精度に影響を与えることが示された。本研究は、液相水中の低エネルギー電子輸送計算に伴う不確実性を低減するために、MCTSコードで使用される物理モデルの更なる開発の必要性を浮き彫りにしている。

, a recently synthesized quasi-one-dimensional ferrotoroidic candidate, combines polarization, magnetization, and toroidal moment, yet its electronic band structure, magnetic evolution, and phase transitions remain incompletely understood to date. Here, we investigate Ba
Cr
S
, using electrical transport, direct current magnetization, alternating current susceptibility, specific heat, and muon spin rotation (
SR) measurements, along with various first-principles calculations. Electrical transport measurements and density functional theory confirm a narrow band gap (
0.707~eV, experimentally;
0.680~eV, theoretically).
SR measurements reveal that static magnetism dominates down to 2~K, with an ordered volume fraction of
89% at this temperature. Two distinct transitions are identified: one around the N
el temperature [
~K] and another corresponding to a phase transition near 30~K, as consistently indicated by our complementary experimental techniques. The absence of dynamic critical behaviors and the lack of a
-type specific heat anomaly are consistent with a first-order-like transition at
. Based on various complementary experimental results and theoretical calculations, we propose a hypothesis that the
30~K broad feature arises from the complex interplay between crystal structure distortion and magnetic coupling, which is potentially directly linked to ferrotoroidicity. As the first study integrating
SR with complementary experiments and first-principles calculations to explore ferrotoroidicity, this work provides key insights into the underlying physics of Ba
Cr
S
and related compounds in this area.

Achieving high ductility in Mg at room temperature, which is critical for mass production of structural components, remains a formidable challenge despite decades of research. In this study, we demonstrate super-ductility in an ultrafine-grained (UFG) Mg alloy at room temperature. By microalloying with trace manganese (Mn) and reducing the grain size to sub-micron scale, Mg-0.3Mn binary alloy achieves an exceptional room temperature tensile elongation of 135% at a quasi-static strain rate. Detailed microstructural analysis reveals that grain boundary (GB) sliding, rather than intragranular dislocation slip, is the dominant deformation mechanism in the UFG Mg-0.3Mn alloy. Unlike conventional alloying strategies that lead to GB pinning, the segregation of Mn element along GBs in a manner of nano-clusters could reduce interfacial bonding strength, acting as a lubricant to facilitate GB sliding and thus dramatically boost the ductility. This innovative GB engineering approach unlocks unprecedentedly remarkable deformability of Mg-based alloys at room temperature, paving the way for next-generation lightweight structural applications.

The incorporation of boron (B) as a neutron absorber into metakaolin-based geopolymers for the remediation of radioactive debris following nuclear accidents has attracted considerable attention. In this study, boron carbide (B
C) was employed as a functional filler, while cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) acted as both a dispersant and a stabiliser to enhance the neutron shielding properties of metakaolin-based geopolymers. Although the addition of B
C improved processability via a roller-ball effect and had no discernible impact on the geopolymerisation process, its weakly polar, negatively charged surface led to the formation of a loose, weak-shell interfacial transition zone (ITZ) between the filler and the matrix, thereby reducing mechanical strength and chemical stability. In contrast, CTAB self-assembled into an interdigitated monolayer on the B
C surface, reversing its surface charge to positive and promoting its uniform dispersion within the matrix. This work offers a promising approach for engineering high-performance, multifunctional geopolymer composites for nuclear and environmental applications.

被引用回数:3 パーセンタイル:72.67(Engineering, Mechanical)The surface induction-hardened S38C medium carbon steel shows a good balance of strength and toughness, but complicates the evaluation of fatigue resistance, mainly because of gradient residual stress (RS) and grains. An integrated fatigue resistance assessment (AIFA) framework was proposed to consider the residual stress relief under stochastic loads. To this end, quasi-in situ neutron diffraction and Bragg-edge imaging were combined to probe the evolution of residual stress during crack propagation. Firstly, a rigid-flexible coupled vehicle dynamics model was adopted to obtain the time-domain variable amplitude loading spectrum. Then, Fortran subroutines were developed to assign these data into full-scale S38C axle model, and the remaining life was predicted using the damage tolerance approach. The results demonstrate that crack propagation would accelerate when residual stress is considered in the case of the crack depth exceeding 3.0 mm. It is, for the first time, found that 15 mm- and 5 mm-thickness fan-shaped specimens can retain the axial and hoop residual strain in terms of diffraction angle variation, respectively, for full-scale structural S38C steel axles. In the absence of RS, the remaining life of the axle decreases sharply from 624,800 to 51,300 km as the crack depth increases from 3.0 to 16 mm. Compared with the standard method under constant amplitude loading without residual stress relief, the present AIFA method provides the more accurate but conservative fatigue life prediction.

The micromechanical behaviors and dislocation evolution in a polycrystalline Ni-Co-based superalloy were systematically investigated by
neutron diffraction tensile testing combined with line profile analysis. The results reveal the sequential activation of
' shearing and Orowan looping mechanisms, with interphase load partitioning governed by strain-dependent interactions of dislocation and precipitate. During the initial plastic deformation, the
and
' phases undergo co-deformation through dislocation shearing without load transfer, while the Orowan looping facilitates the load transfer from
to
' phase at a higher strain level. Furthermore, the low stacking fault energy leads to a rising fraction of screw dislocations by suppressing cross-slip. Crucially, the pinning effect of
' precipitates hinders the rearrangement of these dislocations into low-energy structures, resulting in the formation of high-energy, weakly screened dislocation configurations. These findings provide new evidence for the planar slip dominance in Ni-Co-based superalloys, enabling quantitative assessment of microstructural evolution and micromechanical responses.

Recently, in Japan and France, the intergranular stress corrosion cracking (SCC) has been detected in welded joints of stainless steel pipes in primary piping systems in Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs). It was observed that hardness in the welded joints with SCC was higher than that of the base metal. It is shown that hardness is an important parameter in the SCC propagation in the PWR primary system water environment. In our previous studies, a numerical method was proposed for the prediction of hardness and weld residual stress in Type 316 stainless steel welded joints. The proposed numerical method was validated through the comparisons between predicted results and measurements for welded stainless steel specimens. And then, the effect of welding condition on hardness and residual stresses in stainless steel pipe welds was investigated by using above method. In this study, probabilistic fracture mechanics analysis code PASCAL-SP Ver.2 developed by Japan Atomic Energy Agency is improved to be able to evaluate the failure probability of stainless steel pipe with SCC in PWRs by considering the effect of hardness, and the verification is carried out for an improved function. Additionally, failure probabilities are calculated considering crack growth due to SCC and fatigue in PWR primary water environment. The effect of welding condition such as heat input at welding is quantitatively evaluated based on the failure probabilities.

It remains an open question whether or not the scalar spin chirality itself can exhibit a Hall-type transport. In this work, we show that the answer is yes: The scalar spin chirality is Hall-transported in Kagome ferromagnets and antiferromagnets under an external bias, engendering a phenomenon which we dub the scalar spin chirality Nernst effect. Our findings call for the need to lift the conventional assumption that the scalar spin chirality is a static quantity in order to discover the active roles of the scalar spin chirality in transport properties.

measurement approach is introduced, enabling quantitative spatio-temporal observations of Li concentrations and intercalation phases in ultra-thick graphite electrodes. Neutron imaging and diffraction concurrently provide correlated multiscale information from the scale of the cell down to the crystallographic scale. In particular, the evolving formation of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), observation of gradients in total lithium content, as well as in the formation of ordered Li
C
phases and trapped lithium are mapped throughout the first charge-discharge cycle of the cell. Different lithiation stages co-exist during charging and discharging; delayed lithiation and delithiation processes are observed in central regions of the electrode, while the SEI formation, potential plating, and dead lithium are predominantly found closer to the interface with the separator. The study emphasizes the potential to investigate Li-ion diffusion and the kinetics of lithiation phase formation in thick electrodes.

値と、その値により計算される放射線防護品質係数Q値を比較した。その結果、各MCTSコードや改良Xapsosモデルにより推定されたy
値は10から20%未満のレベルで良い一致を示し、改良Xapsosモデルにより推定されるQ値もMCTSに基づく予測値と良い一致を示した。これらの知見により、解析モデルは膨大な時間とCPUを必要とするMCTSの代替として使用され、実用的かつ高精度に線質係数とリスク評価を進めることができることがわかった。

The key motivation of the project has been to bring the advantages of the Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty approach to the field of Severe Accident. The applications brought together a large group of participants that set out to apply uncertainty analysis (UA) within their field of SA modelling expertise, in particular reactor types, but also SA code used (ASTEC, MELCOR, etc.), uncertainty quantification tools used (DAKOTA, RAVEN, etc.), detailed accident scenarios, and in some cases SAM actions. This paper synthesizes the reactor-application work at the end of the project. Analyses of 23 partners are sorted into different categories, depending on whether their main goal is/are (i) uncertainty bands of simulation results; (ii) the understanding of dominating uncertainties in specific sub-models of the SA code; (iii) improving the understanding of specific accident scenarios, with or without the application of SAM actions; or, (iv) a demonstration of the tools used and developed, and of the capability to carry out an uncertainty analysis in the presence of the challenges faced. The partners' experiences made during the project have been evaluated and are presented as good practice recommendations. The paper ends with conclusions on the level of readiness of UA in SA modelling, on the determination of governing uncertainties, and on the analysis of SAM actions.

遷移の混合を実現し、イソフタル酸(IPA)中で三重項状態の発光を7%から40%に高めることで、この課題に対処した。加圧処理したIPAでは、蛍光と燐光のハイブリッドに基づく優れた白色発光が得られ、フォトルミネッセンス量子収率は当初の19%(青色発光)から75%に増加した。その場での高圧IRスペクトル、X線回折、中性子回折から、圧力の上昇に伴い水素結合が連続的に強化されることが明らかになった。さらに、この強化された水素結合は、圧力処理後も常圧条件下まで保持され、バランスの取れた一重項/三重項励起子集団のための効率的な系間交差を目的としたIPAに与え、効率的な白色発光をもたらした。この研究は、有機低分子の三重項状態を明るくするルートを提案するだけでなく、一重項励起子と三重項励起子の比率を調節して、高性能の白色発光を構築するものである。

-Mn-like, with the magnetic moments confined in alternating (001) planes and pointing toward the
111
direction. Combined with first-principles calculation results, it is shown that the antiferromagnetic order and spin fluctuations help stabilized the fcc phase in CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy.

state in
Se, confirm the level structure, and interpret the nuclear deformation with theoretical models. A combined internal conversion electron and
-ray spectroscopy study was undertaken with the SPICE and TIGRESS spectrometers at the TRIUMF-ISAC-II facility. Nuclear models were provided by the Generalised Triaxial Rotor Model (GTRM) and the collective Generalised Bohr Hamiltonian (GBH). Despite a comprehensive search, no evidence was found for the existence of a
state below 2 MeV in
Se. Significant discrepancies to the previously established positive parity level scheme were found. GBH calculations using UNEDF1 mass parameters were found to reproduce the revised low-lying level structure well.
Se does not have a well defined axial shape. The 2
state at 1601 keV resembles a quasi-
excitation rather than a member of a shape coexisting band; the presence of such a band is all but ruled out.

The neutron diffraction method was employed to measure the residual strain in S38C axles, obtaining microscopic lattice distortion data, for the gradient layer at a depth of 8 mm under the surface. The results showed that after induction-hardening, the microscopic lattice distortion had a gradient distribution, decreasing with the distance from the surface. However, in the case of impacting speed of 600 km/m, the average microscopic lattice distortion increased with the distance from the surface, reaching a maximum augmentation of 55 pct. These findings indicate a strong experimental basis, and improve our understanding of the relationship between macroscopic residual stress and decision-making, in regard to operation and maintenance.
