Fiber-optic LIBS is expected to be used for the internal survey of damaged reactors in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Recently, we have demonstrated that the molecular emission from metal target in air is remarkably enhanced by a long-pulse laser. In this work, we investigated the oxidation process of ablated species with fast imaging of the plasma emission. In the case of normal pulse, the bright spot of emission region was close to the target surface and the plasma rapidly expanded to the horizontal direction. In the case of long pulse, the bright spot was apart from the target surface and the expansion speed was slower. This can allow the ambient air to flow into the plasma that facilitates the molecular formation. Such a condition is achieved by the gradual rise of long pulse.
