Resonant X-ray scattering study of UNiGa$$_5$$

UNiGa$$_5$$の共鳴X線散乱

ネール温度が86Kの反強磁性を示すUNiGa$$_5$$においてウランのM$$_4$$吸収端及びガリウムのK吸収端のエネルギーを持つ放射光X線を用いた共鳴磁気散乱を観測した。ガリウムサイトでは非磁性元素であるにもかかわらず、10$$^2$$ものenhancementを観測したが、これは隣のウラン5$textit{f}$の軌道分極が混成軌道を通してガリウムの4$textit{p}$の軌道分極を誘起したことに起因すると考えられる。

In UNiGa$$_5$$ which shows antiferromagnetic ordering below $textit{T$_N$}$ = 86 K with 0.75 $$mu_B$$/U, we observed resonant magnetic reflections using synchrotron X-ray tuned the incident photon energy near M$$_4$$-edge of U and K-edge of Ga, and the large enhancement about 10$$^2$$ at just resonant energy of Ga K-edge although Ga is a nonmagnetic element. It is considered that the origin of the magnetic resonant scattering intensity at Ga K-edge is the Ga-4$textit{p}$ orbital polarization induced by the 5$textit{f}$ orbital polarization at the neighboring U atom due to the hybridization.
